The Allies were attacked on the plains of Cateau by 30,000 strong French Army, a fierce battle ensued but at the end the allies were victorious. The Kings Dragoon Guards captured several pieces of artillery and ammunition weapons and for this service the regiment received £500 by order of the Duke of York.
