7TH DRAGOON GUARDS (PRINCESS
ROYAL'S) Raised in 1688 as the Earl of Devonshire's Horse or 10th horse, but changed
names in 1788 to the 7th (the Princess Royal's) Dragoon Guards.
Battle Honours (shown on standard)
- 1701 - 1715, Blenheim, Ramillies,
Oudenarde, Malplaquet during the War of the
Spanish Sucession
- 1740 - 1748 Dettingen during the War of the Austrian Succession
- 1756 - 1763 at Warbung during the Seven years war
- 1846 - 1847 Seventh Kaffir War
- 1882 Tel El Kibir during the revolt of the Arabi Pasha
- 1882 - 1884 in Egypt during the first Sudan Campaign
- 1899 - 1902 Boer war
- 1914 - 1918 La Bassee
Givenchy, Somme, Bazentin, cambrai, St
Quentin, Avre, Amiens, Hindenburg Line, Pursuit to Mons.
Both of the above Regiments were amalgamated in 1922, to become the 4th / 7th
Dragoon Guards. and became Royal in 1936
Battle honours during World War Two
Dyle, Dunkirk 1940, Normandy landing, Odon, Mont
Pincon, Nederrijn, Geilenkirchen, Rhineland, Cleve, Rhine.
