Text for the above items :

Lull in the Battle by Terence Cuneo.

Depicting 3 Para with the Army Catering Corps at Port San Carlos, Falkland Islands, May 1982. Although catering is its prime function, the ACC takes on many extra tasks on active service. Terence Cuneos painting shows many of the duties the ACC undertook during the Falkland campaign. They were stretcher bearers, and Medical Assistants, helicopter marshalling and loading and manning weapon pits, storing weapons and ammunition and guarding prisoners and still having the evening meal ready on time.

Graebner's Attack, Arnhem Bridge, 18th September 1944 by David Pentland.

German Armoured Reconnaissance troops led by SS Captain Viktor Graebner, of the 9th SS Panzer Division, are decimated and repulsed by the men of Colonel Frosts 2PARA, as they attempt to retake the bridge by a coup-de-main.

The Paras are Landing by Terence Cuneo.

To achieve the effects Terence Cuneo needed to put this subject over with conviction, he stood on a Surrey heath watching men unload form the sky. That seemingly gentle occupation turned out to be a shade less peaceful than he might have supposed. A container came thumping down missing him by a couple of yards, followed rapidly by a paratrooper, whom he had not spotted, missing him by barely two feet. As the aim was obviously improving, Terence Cuneo decided to move on. Luckily, the grounded figures proved far less menacing to portray. (excerpt from Military paintings by Terence Cuneo)

Goose Green, Falkland Islands, 28th May 1982. British Paratroops of 2 Para trapped in a gorse gully finally break the main Argentine line of defence, opening the way to the final assault on Darwin and Goose Green. Despite being outnumbered, exhausted, and forced to attack over open ground under fire from enemy machine guns, artillery and aircraft, 2 Para succeeded in reaching their objective and giving the British Task Force its first much needed land victory.

Arnhem Bridge by Simon Smith.

Men of Colonel Frosts 2 Para retake the bridge after a German attempt lead by Captain Viktor Graebner of the 9th SS panzer Division (armoured reconnaissance Troops) had failed.

Battle for Mount Longdon by Mark Churms.

Market Garden. Arnhem by Graeme Lothian.

Paratroopers of the 1st Battalion sort their kit out and get ready to enplane the waiting American Dakota C-47s of the 14 and 59 Squadrons/61st Troop Carrier Group. The paratroops took off simultaneously from Saltby and Barkston, commencing at 1121. All planes were in the air by 1155. A relatively uneventful trip over the northern route to the Netherlands resulted in not a plane being shot down; only five were slightly damaged. The 1st Battalion were dropped at 1403, 2nd Battalion at 1353 and the 3rd Battalion at 1356, all at DZ-X, west of Wolfhezen some eight miles west of Arnhem. The Battalion orders were for three different routes to the Arnhem Bridge. 1st Battalion took the Leopard route, 2nd Battalion Tiger route and the 3rd Battalion Lion route. Only the 2nd Battalion, commanded by Lt colonel John Frost managed to fight their way to the bridge.

Combat Outpost by David Rowlands.

16 Air Assault Brigade deployed on Operation HERRICK, Afghanistan, from March to October 2006. The establishment of Combat Outposts and District Centres within Helmand Province by the 3 PARA Battlegroup was a key element of the operation. Throughout the deployment, the soldiers in these remote and austere locations were involved in some of the most intense fighting for a generation. This scene of the Combat Outpost in Now Zad depicts one of the Rear Link Detachments of 216 Parachute Signal Squadron which established and maintained vital communication links to both the Battlegroup and Brigade Headquarters from all of the isolated outposts.

Suez Drop, 5th November 1956 by David Pentland.

Carried to their target by 18 Valettas and 9 Hastings of RAF Transport Command, and supported by air strikes by Fleet Air Arm Sea Venoms and Seahawks they quickly succeeded in securing their objective.
