 Historical military art print of the Pioneer Regiment at the Normandy Landings on Sword Beach during the Second World War by Terence Cuneo.

The Royal Pioneer Corps was raised in 1939 named the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corp, soon changing in 1940 to Pioneer Corp. and becoming the Royal pioneer Corp ion 1946.  One member of the crops was awarded the George Cross In Liverpool 8th March 1941, Corporal J P Scully (1909 - 1974). The Corps Museum is in Northampton at Simpsons barracks

 
Sword Beach by Terence Cuneo  Pioneers were among the first British troops to land on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, by 1st April 1944 there were over 35,500 pioneers in Normandy. The painting shows the various activities of the pioneers during the D-Day landings.
