The Welsh Guards regiment was raised in 1915 as One battalion. Two members of the welsh guards have one the Victoria Cross the first being during World war One by Sgt R Bye (1889 - 1962) at Yser Canal, Belgium 31st July 1917 and One was also won during World War Two

Battles honours Emblazoned are. The great war: Loos, Ginchy, Flers-Courcelette, Morval, Pilkem, Poelcapelle, Cambra 1917, 1918 bBpaume 1918, Canal du Norde, Sambre, and during the second wolr,d war, Defence of Arras, Boulogne 1940, Monte Pincon, Brusells, Hechtel, Fondouk, Hammam Lif, Monte Ornito, Monte Piccolo, Battaglia.   And the Falklands War, Falklands Islands 1982.

The regiment was raised in February 1915 and its 1st Battalion went to France in August 1915 to join the Guards Division which was then being formed.  A very good history incorporating nominal roll of all WOs, NCOs and men who served with it, noting casualties and awards, records of service of all officers. chronology of every move from arrival in France to arrival in Cologne and list of enemy divisions engaged.
